What’s in a Name?

Early Cooking

Cooking in the Campus Apartments at UNC-Chapel Hill.

As far as I can recall, “Fix-It With Fran” was born in 2008 (The timestamped photo supports that theory).

At some point during my grad school career, my office administrator started calling me “Fix-It Fran.”  Every time something happened in the office, particularly with plants, she jokingly said, “It’s time for Fix-It With Fran.”

I’ve always been a helper, but I love (and I mean LOVE!) sharing ideas with others and helping them fix things.  I’m not sure how the name spread, but it did and my family and friends have a habit of looking to me (or calling/texting/emailing) for tips, cooking advice, and some of everything in between. So that’s the story behind the name.

I love cooking, baking, crafting, finding amazing deals, and sharing random useful tips. I’m excited about chronicling my Pinterest projects here along with some of the tips I’ve come up with myself.

Like most others venturing into the blogging world, I realized that I need an outlet.  I’m a planner and wife by day, a youth ministry leader and mentor, daughter, sister, friend (the list goes on), but I haven’t carved out my own space in the midst of all those other roles. Thankfully, my husband, who I affectionately refer to as my “Husboo,” has been very supportive in not letting my drop the ball on myself. The site is still in the early stages of development, but I plan to keep my topics grouped as follows:

  • Cooking
  • Home Repair
  • Decorating
  • Fitness
  • Family
  • Fun
  • Finances
  • Frugal Finds
  • Freebies
  • Flowers/Gardening
  • Faith
  • Firsts

Who knows where this will go— but the ball is rolling.

I’ll post again soon (my initial goal is to have a minimum of one post a week) and I hope to have my new logo uploaded soon!

Until next time– Go fix something! 🙂
