I’ve mentioned this before, but the Lord often ministers to me through music.
This song was just on my heart so strong.
I can’t recall the first time that I heard it, but I do remember hearing it play as my mom and I were driving back home from what felt like my 100th college day trip to UNC. 😣
EVERYONE just KNEW that I should go to UNC. Everyone….except me.
I was adamantly against going there. Ohhh there’s a long story behind that testimony right there!
But, I left that Decisions Days visit and had made my decision.
Not based on anyone else’s wants, desires, or suggestions, but because I finally let my guard down and considered all of the ways that the school might actually be a good fit for me.
Still, there were so many thoughts and questions swirling through my mind:
How was my family going to pay?
What if they didn’t offer as much financial aid the other schools?
I’d never worried about my grades before, but I didn’t know what to expect and knew I could lose my scholarships if I didn’t maintain the minimum required GPA…
I’m sure my mom played this album several times before, but in THAT MOMENT during that one drive home, it was as if the Lord was addressing every one of my uncertainties with that song.
When I heard this particular lyric, “And don’t look so worried, darlin.’ There’s no need to hurry. Always know. I believe in you. I BELIEVE IN YOU!….”
It was like a balm for my soul.
People might have had their expectations and assumptions regarding my abilities, but the same God that knew me –my faults and all my shortcomings– He BELIEVED in me.
Isn’t it something to think that we ALWAYS have God on our side?
If only we’ll pause long enough to remember that He has a GOOD plan for our lives and to make a conscious decision to recall His promises and SPEAK LIFE instead of death and BLESSINGS instead of cursings.
I pray that this song encourages you this morning. I’ve had it on my playlist since I was 18 years old and it still blesses me every time I hear it. 🙏💗💖
