Girls’ Night IN

I so enjoy spending time with friends.

There’s always so much to do in New Orleans, but there’s nothing wrong with a good old girls’ night in!

Yesterday, I was able to have breakfast with a friend who was in town for a conference and then wrapped up my day with a game night with my girlfriends.

Bible Taboo got HEATED! One of my friends got this candid shot of me clutching my pearls with the church fan going! šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

We had a ball playing Bible Taboo and enjoying a few snacks.

What’s a game night without snacks?!?

3 Tips for Saving on Christmas Clearance

wp-1484267661798.jpg

This post is almost reaching the point of becoming outdated, but I promised I would publish it this week and I didn’t share these tips last year, so I’m going to keep my word šŸ™‚ . Even still, there are a good number of stores that still haveĀ clearance items out for sale, so this may help a someĀ of you!

Earlier this month, I went out and picked up a few clearance items of my own. Ā I’m shopping small this year. VERY SMALL. Ā I purchased 16 items for a total of Ā $14.12 (before tax) and a savings of $55.26. Ā I believe I have a photo of my receipt from 2014 floating around here somewhere. Ā I’ll do a longer strategy post next year and recap that haul. Ā (Stay tuned).

My local Wal-Mart had their items marked down toĀ 75 percent off on the day I visited so they may be at 80 or even 90 percent off to get that final push before clearing the holiday inventory. Here’s a copy of my receipt!

There are threeĀ simple rules I follow when it comes to holiday clearance shopping. No matter what the holiday is, the rules remain consistent.

Book Review: Money-Making Mom

Money Making Mom Book Review on FixItWithFran.com

I fell in love with #MoneySavingMom as a student in undergrad– It went right along with the frugal habits I’d already inherited from my maternal grandmother.

This book right here! Let’s just say, it’s a game changer. I’ve started incorporating many of the author’s tips and I’m already seeing increased traffic on my blog and social media sites.
What really strikes me about this text is this– reading it felt like I was listening to a big sister or close mentor.

Her advice was SO down to earth and approachable and the text really felt like we were just curled up on some comfy seats in one of our living rooms having a conversation. You can’t just create that. That’s a real gift! I’m so grateful for what she shared and the opportunity to review this text.

My top 3 takeaways:

  1. Post frequently. She recommends posting content to your blog, Ā AT LEAST 3Ā to 4 times a week. Ā Before reading this, I thought an average of Ā 2 posts a week was doing OK. Ā After reading this, Ā I realized I needed to step my game up. By doing so, I’m generating more traffic to my blog and seeing increased interactions with my subscribers.
  2. Repost your own content. Do you have old blogs that existed before your blog had much traffic? Ā POST THEM AGAIN. That was a simple suggestion that was so eye opening for me. (And it takes care of one of your weekly blog posts āœ”)
  3. Follow blogs and podcasts to stay abreast of current trends. Ā I’m pretty good at following blogs/bloggers and reading up on trends online, Ā but I had yet to begin listening to any podcasts. She recommends:Ā EntreLeadership or Brilliant Business Moms.

Ok. That’s it. I’m not going to give away any more of the text. If you want to know more, you’ll have to read it yourself to find out. šŸ˜‰ You won’t regret it. Ā I PROMISE āœ‹šŸ‘šŸ‘Œ
