Today’s going to be a busy day and then I’ll be traveling for the next 24 hours. Sometimes, you can’t find the exact words you need to pray, but that’s what Google is for. I love this website (Prayers.org). I found this prayer this morning and thought it was worth sharing. Happy Friday-eve!
To Be Well-Balanced
Father, in the name of Jesus, I come boldly to Your throne of grace to receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Forgive me for getting caught up in my own pride. Sometimes I behave as though I am indispensable at home, at the office, at church and in other situations. I become irritable and fatigued, feeling that no one appreciates all that I do. Help me to step back and take a personal inventory. My spirit is Your candle, searching out all the inward parts of my being.
Jesus said, Come to me, all of you who are weary and over-burdened, and I will give you rest! Put on my yoke and learn from me. For I am gentle and humble in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light (Matt. 11:28-30 PHILLIPS).
Lord, not only am I yoked up with You, but also with my spouse, my colleagues and others whom You have sent into my life. I am not alone, and I cannot carry this alone. Help me to resist the temptation to be yoked together with unbelievers for the sake of financial profit.
There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven. Help me to keep my priorities in order. Help me to fulfill my call and responsibilities at home as a husband/wife and/or parent. While I am at work, help me to stay focused. Also, help me to take time to find rest—relief, ease and refreshment and recreation and blessed quiet—for my soul.
I cast the whole of my care [all my anxieties, all my worries, all my concerns, once and for all] on You, for You care for me affectionately and care about me watchfully. I affirm that I am well-balanced (temperate, sober of mind), vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of mine, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour. In the name of Jesus, I withstand him; firm in faith [against his onset—rooted, established, strong, immovable and determined]. And after I have suffered a little while, You, the God of all grace [Who imparts all blessing and favor], Who has called me to His [own] eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will Yourself complete and make me what I ought to be, establish and ground me securely, and strengthen and settle me.
To You be the dominion (power, authority, rule) for ever and ever.
Amen (so be it).
