My Skin Care Scoop

Starting Review:

Y’all know I’m all about self-care, but I’ll be honest — I fell off on my daily routine during our travel and jet lag wasn’t my friend coming or going.

I’m went in for a “reset” a few weeks back and then started testing a few items at home. Up first was this SONIC ERASER Pro. It is described as a tool that can help improve the absorption of your daily skin care products.

Talk Yourself Happy: Book Review

I’m just not feeling it today.

I haven’t been feeling it much this week.

In fact, I’m not feeling much of anything. Especially not nouns. You know– people, places and things.

I’m pretty much over them all.

But that’s where this book became an on time tool for me. In fact, there have been several occurrences this week that ultimately served as reminders that I needed to “Talk Myself Happy….”

What I’ve Been Reading- The Wired Soul

The Wired Soul has to be one of my favorite review texts from the past couple of months. It made me think very critically about the time I spend engaging in social media and how often I use my phone and computer. I changed a number of my habits– some were minor (like putting my phone on “Do Not Disturb” mode during certain portions of my day and others were more significant.  In fact, we’ve instituted a nightly reading habit where my husband and I read for at least an hour (Yes, think back to the D.E.A.R. program some of us participated in during grade school 🙂 ). Not digital books– physical, hard copy books.  Crazy right?  đŸ˜€ It makes our evenings SO PEACEFUL. We’re still sharpening the habit, but I thoroughly look forward to it and I don’t miss watching TV.

Working on a blog and “building a brand” can cause a person to become entirely TOO CONNECTED.  I know we all set our own boundaries, but for me, it started to become too much.  I needed time away from Facebook, Instagram, etc to just enjoy those that I can physically interact with.  One-on-one meetings and outings are SO IMPORTANT to me.  I miss being in a city with my closest friends and family, but I am enjoying making new acquaintances and I’m believing God for even greater connections in 2017!

Here’s a bit more about the book from the publisher.  You can also find it on Amazon

The Wired Soul by Tricia McCary Rhodes

If you had time to slow down, you’d notice: You’re more easily distracted lately. You forget the details of your life more often than you used to. You get easily agitated and have trouble resting, even though you’re more tired than you remember ever being. Even your spiritual life is not immune: You struggle to pray, to read the Scriptures, to be still and know that God is God.

Welcome to now. Our technology has greatly improved much of our lives, but in the process our brains are being rewired on a daily basis, and our capacity to be centered in our souls, in our lives, is at risk.

Brain scientists are aware of this unprecedented change, but the solutions aren’t found in science: They’re found in the ancient practices of the faith. Tricia McCary Rhodes reintroduces us to the classic disciplines of Scripture reading, meditation, prayer, and contemplation, not just as technologies to aid our faith but as tools to keep us focused and mindful in an increasingly disorienting digital age.

Let’s Toast to New Fitness Goals: Detox Tea Review

My next birthday is quickly approaching. I’ve decided to start a two-month birthday countdown.

This also means it’s time for increased workouts and weight training! In fact, I’ve started off with this week with another series of morning detox tea.

I received these cups to review and I love that these #cutea cups are ready  to go in my Keurig. I’m not really a big fan of most commercial “detoxes.” I side with the school of thought that our body is already equipped to naturally detox itself.

However, I do believe that we benefit from intentional, positive changes in our diets and those periods when we pay closer attention to the items we consume and how often we consume them. I also perfer drinking tea and I find this beverage beneficial for increasing my water intake.

☕CUTEA’s unique formula is a 100% natural way to rid yourself of toxins, boost energy and burn tough body fat.

☕The specially blended detox brew can be enjoyed hot, first thing in the morning or sipped chilled as an after-workout, morning refresher.

☕Added bonus: Each cup in the 10 count box gets up to 3 uses per cup for a total 30 uses from the set!

☕Ingredients: Organic Green Tea, Organic Tulsi, Organic Spearmint, Organic Rose Hops, Organic Lemon Myrtle, Organic Linden Blossoms, & Organic Ginger Roots.

I’ve already come a long way and I’m so grateful for God’s faithfulness and strength.

It will involve a good bit of hard work, but I’m excited to see what God has in store for the journey ahead.

November will be here before we know it.

Let’s get fit together! 💪🏋🏃
