Are Your Words Worth Hearing? 

I shared this as an Instagram post, but also wanted to post it on the blog.

Just some food for thought.

Much of my recent mediations have been about my words. What I choose to say and why and what it really says about where my heart is.

I made this card years ago when I started one of my first office jobs.  It was a necessary desktop reminder.

I ran across it last week and stuck it in a book I’m currently reading.

Last night, it caught my eye and got me thinking…. Sometimes we need to ask ourselves:

Is what you’re saying WORTH HEARING?

Is it WORTH REPEATING?

Are your words HELPING SOMEONE?

Are you HELPING YOURSELF with your words (the ones you say outloud and those you only think to yourself)?

Scriptures to Meditate On:

  • Ephesians 4:29 NIV Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.
  • Philippians 4:8 NIV Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.
  • Proverbs 6:2 NIV You have been trapped by what you said, ensnared by the words of your mouth.
  • Proverbs 18:20‭-‬21 NIV From the fruit of their mouth a personʼs stomach is filled; with the harvest of their lips they are satisfied.  The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.
