Book Review: 5 Minutes With Jesus

This is a great text to have in your car or even in your bathroom!  Don’t judge me — we all spend some necessary time in the restroom in the morning and a 5 minute devotional is perfect for that “quiet time” when we’re actually being still!

I so greatly appreciated the approach the author took in incorporating a brief vignette with scriptures to meditate on and a quote for consideration (If you’ve read my blogs, you’ve probably noticed me using a similar format).  I think it’s so great because it’s realistic and easy to digest.

So often, we as people of faith find ourselves wanting to study or spend more quiet time and not beginning to do so because we can’t spend “enough time”.  The saddest thing about this is that we sell ourselves short by not doing anything at all because we feel like we can’t do enough.  That’s where a book like this is perfect– it helps you to begin and once you do you realize– I can get a good bit done in 5 minutes.  Even more so, you realize– I’m thinking about this a lot longer than 5 minutes and maybe spending time with Jesus isn’t so hard after all.

That was my major takeaway from this text.  5 minutes with Jesus can start with this book and happen throughout your day- WHEREVER you are, WHENEVER you make the time.
